At JAM Product Design Ltd, we’re always on the lookout for cutting-edge technologies that help us deliver exceptional product design services.

Recently, we had the pleasure of connecting with the team at Rotite. They are a company who have developed an innovative rotary fastening system with huge potential across industries. Based in Sheffield, we specialise in turning ideas into tangible products and when Rotite shared some of their CAD files with us, we couldn’t wait to dive in and think about how we could use the technology in our products. We quickly 3D printed a series of Rotite sample connectors using our in-house printers, and we’ve been exploring their potential ever since.

So, what is Rotite?

Rotite offers a novel rotary locking mechanism that enables fast, secure, and repeatable connections. It’s intuitive, strong, and incredibly versatile. It's ideal for applications in everything from wearable tech and consumer products to medical devices and modular systems. While chatting to Stuart, he gave us a full walkthorugh the technology, potential markets that it can be used in, and, quite interestingly, where the inspiration for the connectors came from. I'll leave that story for him to tell!

Prototyping with 3D Printing at JAM

Rapid prototyping is a core part of our product design process, so using our FDM and SLA 3D printers, we have been able to test out the Rotite connectors in real-world scenarios. This hands-on approach gave us valuable insights into mechanical tolerances, assembly interactions, and potential applications.

This kind of exploration allows us to better advise our clients and identify where emerging tech like Rotite can deliver real value.

Why Product Design in Sheffield Matters

Our studio is based in Sheffield, a city with a deep heritage in engineering and manufacturing. At JAM, we’re proud to continue that legacy with modern tools like CAD development and 3D printing. Keeping up to date with new technologies and advancements in the product design sector allows us to provide a better offering to our clients and helps to keep that heritage alive.

What’s Next?

We’re exploring ways that we can integrate Rotite’s technology into future client projects, it's important for us to keep ahead of trends and have a full toolbox of solutions that we can draw on for each clients needs. That's why these sorts of collaborations are so important to us.

If you’re a business looking to work with an agile, creative, and technically focused product design consultancy in Sheffield, we’d love to hear from you.
